I have played piano all of my life and happen to have a talent for hearing music. Once my fingers caught up with my ears, I was able to start work as a dueling piano player, playing requests for weekend party-goers. I have hundreds of popular songs worked up, but at least once a night I find myself performing a song on stage that I’ve never played before. Dueling Pianos is a fun gig that introduces me to new people and places, and helps to develop ear, my voice, my technique, my improvisational skills, my ability to play multiple instruments (bass guitar, drums, and brass), my lyric writing, my memory, and most of all my audience interaction skills. We all have to stop and remember that music would be nothing without an audience to hear it.
I have performed as a dueling piano player since July of 2007. I started out with a few happy hours at the Big Bang in Tempe, AZ and got a full-time gig at the Shout House in Glendale in 2008. In the summer of 2009 I finally escaped the heat of the Phoenician summer and moved to Madison WI. There I played with duelers-for-hire Piano Fondue. I have since relocated to Chicago IL and play in many clubs throughout the city.
